As staged by Tim Gregory for Provision Theater, this evening of Truman Capote's best-loved autobiographical short stories takes a while to find its legs. But boy howdy, does it deliver in the end. That's mostly thanks to Peggy Roeder's enchanting, heartbreaking performance as Sook, the elderly, somewhat addled, completely kindhearted cousin of Capote stand-in Buddy--a lonely, bullied child growing up in the rural south during the Depression. Rawson Vint struggles to find the balance between narrating and joining the action as Buddy, but the concluding moments of A Christmas Memory left me in tears. It's not the happiest holiday show, but it may be the one that leaves you with the greatest appreciation for the value of a family's unconditional love. --Kerry Reid

This show is simply wonderful. It's simple and straightfoward and quite touching. Nice job Provision Theater. Thank you Ms. Roeder and Mr. Vint. It was nicely played.

I have seen two productions by the Provision Theater Company, and if these are instructive, everything this company touches is nothing short of excellent. A Christmas Memory and the Thanksgiving Visitor were simple and quite moving - a wonderful holiday show with meaning. This production makes for a thoroughly enjoyable evening and is a must see.
