Judging from the evidence presented by playwright Will Dunne in this ostensible comedy, the way to become an interesting person is to fill your life with as many sitcom-style antics as it will hold. That's the route taken by Wayne Drabowski, a kind of grown-up Charlie Brown, who reads a how-to book on becoming less dull, then moves into a crazy boardinghouse filled with colorfully insane lodgers and a hot to trot, Elaine Stritch-like landlady. Wackiness ensues. Dunne certainly shows he can pile on the high jinks (bed-hopping, sleepwalking, a murder mystery), but zany doesn't equal funny, and more often than not the play is irritating rather than interesting. Russ Tutterow's staging for Chicago Dramatists has a cartoonish energy, but it doesn't help. --Zac Thompson
