This powerful solo show, written and performed by Chicago playwright Rohina, tells five riveting tales of Muslim women--four immigrants and one convert--trying to cope with life in xenophobic post-9/11 America. Each woman experiences anti-Islamic prejudice firsthand; one even sees her boyfriend murdered by thugs. The beauty of this show, however, is that Rohina never lets the horrors overwhelm her storytelling or turn it bitter. Nor does she ever get preachy. Instead, she takes time to draw us in with beguiling stories of Islamic marriage rituals and immigrant family life. --Jack Helbig
